I am planning on having bariatic surgery, and I need to write a letter of intent to the insurance company why I what the surgery. I want to include in the letter the post-operative changes I intent to make. However, I do not know what type of post-operative changes to include. If you by chance wrote a letter of intent or know what post-operative changes I have to make, it will help me out.

My insurance won’t pay for the surgery, it’s an exclusion, and the State of Texas doesn’t have a mandate for this surgery. I can’t afford the surgery and I can’t not to have the surgery for medical reason. Can anyone please help?

I have recently decided to seriously look into getting weight loss surgery and would like to know what my first step should be. Do I need to check with insurance or see the doctor first? What kind of doctor do I call? What kind of appointment do I need to make?

Has anyone ever wanted to have Bariatric Surgery but it is excluded from your insurance company?

I am SICK AND TIRED OF BEING OVER-WEIGHT!! I’ve gone through all of the motions, consulted with the physicians, heard the words, "you would make a GREAT candidate for bariatric surgery, but give me ,000 to do it for you. Yes, I’ve submitted to insurance, but they know best and will not cover the surgery. You name it, I’ve tried it. I have two shelfs of Nutrisystem food sitting in my pantry as I type!! C’mon!! There has to be someone out there that knows the ins on how to be the guinea pig for new doctors…I’m 37 years old with a daughter that is soon to turn 5. I’ve had to teach her that fat is not a nice word. Now she calls over-weight people "just a little heavy". I’m not asking for a hand-out by any means, only an avenue as to where I might receive the surgical procedure and process pro-bono while aiding a physician in obtaining practice for this booming new phenomenom.

i have 2 genetic defects that i have been told by my dr will never change. 1 is that my thighs are really large. everyone in my family has large thighs, so i guess it comes from that. i wear size 13 around the waist but size 20 through the thighs. finding jeans … impossible. also finding bras is impossible. i am larger than a C on one side and slightly smaller than an A on the other. my dr and parents suggest surgery… but idk. my friend’s mom had surgery and had a horrible recovery that is still going on a season later. also… might the medicine/anestesia hurt your brain? is it even really worth it and will the insurance pay for it? please answer if u can tell me anything i should know about surgery before deciding to have it.

if i have severe sleep apnea and diabetes, will insurance pay for bariatric surgery? and if i do and it leaves lots of extra skin, will insurance pay for removing that as well?

I need bariatric surgery. My current insurance, well it’s not the world’s best for it (mercy healthcare, HMO) and I dont meet the requirements. I was recently married and in January must find my own insurance. Anyone know which insurance would be best to check into getting that would potentially cover bariatric surgery? I live in Missouri…only other thing I definitely would need the insurance to cover would be my cardiologist, but he takes most every insurance I’ve thought of.

I had my sinuses cleaned out and had the surgeon also perform some cosmetic surgery on my nose at the same time. I was told some of it would be billed to insurance but wasn’t coverable because of the cosmetic surgery done. Can the costs be deducted as medical expenses on income tax?

My insurance doesn’t cover any bariatric surgery. Is there any way I can find a policy that does cover it, and purchase the policy privately?
